Wirral International Film Festival
WIRRAL International Film Festival is less than a week away!
Organisers Alan Veste and Phil Bimpson are putting the final touches to the schedule, which will see a total of 96 films played out over the week, leading up to the awards night on November 28.
Alan said: “We will show every film submitted, no matter what.
“We’re not going to leave anybody out, everybody will get their fair share.”
The festival will begin this Monday, November 24 at 2.30pm and showcase submissions across a range of genres, each day up to 8.30pm.
The first day will see 16 music videos projected onto the big screen, while Tuesday and Wednesday will play host to almost 50 short films, as well as the under-16 productions from 4pm.
Thursday will see the collection of animations and documentaries given an airing, while Friday will be the day for feature length submissions.
Entry is completely free for all, and anyone is welcome to come down and stay for as many or few films as they would like.
The judging panel has also now been announced.
Considering a genre each, film-maker Estelle Condliffe will be joined by award-winning comedienne, Lynne Fitzgerald, Out-of-the-Bag Productions’ Paula Rowlands, Liverpool film-maker, Kev West and poet and musician, John Gorman.
Film-goers will also be invited to rate each film they view and marks across the genres will be tallied up, with the winner receiving the Wirral News Award - based entirely on the public vote.
The festival will culminate on Friday evening, where the red carpet will be rolled out and winners celebrated.
The award night was going to be held at Wallasey Town Hall, but will now follow the rest of the festival in the lounge of the Queens Hotel on Park Road East.
l As a little taster, Wirral News will feature a short excerpt of two films on our website - www.wirralnews.co.uk - as well as links to the week’s full schedule.
l Wirral International Film Festival will take place from Monday November 24 to Friday November 29 at Queens Hotel, Park Road East, Birkenhead. Visit www.vesbim.co.uk for more.
