Cancer charity’s Light Up A Life appeal launches in Birkenhead

THE people of Wirral are once again rallying to support the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s Light Up a Life.

The foundation, along with Wirral News and the Grange and Pyramids Shopping Centre, are working together to provide a special way to remember lost loved ones at Christmas through the Light Up a Life Christmas Appeal.

Light Up a Life invites supporters to sponsor a light on one of the dedicated Light Up a Life trees in St Werburgh’s Square.

Family and friends will be invited to watch the lightsŠ being switched on during a service of celebration and remembrance on Thursday, December 11 at 6.30pm.

All money raised from the appeal will help the foundation in its mission to defeat lung cancer – the UK’s biggest cancer killer.Š

David Thomas, of Heswall, who lost both his parents to lung cancer, will perform the switch-on ceremony.

He ran the London Marathon in April to raise vital funds for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.Š

He brought in more than £2,500 and has set up a tribute fund at the foundation for his parents.
