Six-week diversion on New Ferry Road for sewer repairs

NEW Ferry Road will close between Thornburn Road and Shorefields from this week to improve the reliability of Rock Ferry's sewer pipes.

The work will take six weeks, and will see the old cast-iron pipes lined using the latest technology.

United Utilities project manager, Ken Gee, said: “In order to install the sewer lining, we will need to put temporary pumping equipment in the highway which will restrict parking on the side of the road with odd-numbered houses.

“New Ferry Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic from the junction of Thornburn Road to the junction with Shorefields and there will be traffic diversions in place.

“We will do everything possible to keep noise and disruption to a minimum and we would like to thank our customers in advance for their patience and understanding.

“This is essential work and will go a significant way towards improving the reliability of the sewer network.”

The company warns that access may be restricted at times and arrangements will have to be made to ensure wheelie bins are moved to where they can be emptied.
