THE 2008 Wirral Poppy Appeal will be launched at Tranmere Rovers Football Club this Friday at the match at Prenton Park against Crewe.
A collection will be made before the match and at half-time by two local TA units and Birkenhead Sixth Form College.
Julie Dove, community fundraiser for Cheshire Royal British Legion, said: “We are delighted to have the ongoing support of Tranmere Rovers.
“It is donations collected at events like this which make it possible for us to help service and ex-service men and women and their families who are in need.
“The poppy is the nation’s symbol of remembrance.
“It is worn not only to remember those who served in the two world wars but also those who are risking their lives today in conflicts worldwide.
