MP Stephen Hesford urges small businesses to be confident

WIRRAL West MP Stephen Hesford is one of the key figures who have been marking the massive cultural and economic contribution made by Wirral’s small businesses to Merseyside and the wider North West.

He was among an audience of regional business leaders, politicians and sector agencies who attended FSB Culture of Business 2008, organised by the Federation of Small Businesses Merseyside, West Cheshire and Wigan.

Mr Hesford, who is also a member of the All Party Small Shops Group, said: “It’s a challenging time but I would encourage small businesses to have confidence.

“Speaking to senior business figures, our region is in a good position to weather the credit crunch.

“Sometimes small businesses can be overlooked but this is a great opportunity to work hand-in-hand with Capital of Culture to regenerate the region beyond 2008.

“We need to make sure our business base is sustained, and I think in Wirral it will be.”
