Hamilton Square
POOLS of blood found near Hamilton Square station came from an injured builder who was seeking assistance, Merseyside Police has confirmed.
A taupaulin was placed around a phonebox on Bridge Street, just outside the busy Birkenhead station, on Wednesday afternoon after the gruesome discovery was reported to authorities.
Another cordon was set up around one of the bus shelters, facing the site of the former Woodside Hotel on Hamilton Street, after streaks of blood were found there.
At the time, there appeared to be no explanation for the blood's appearance as no report of any kind of assault had been lodged.
But following investigations, it emerged that a workman had simply cut himself before seeking assistance using the public phonebox.
