CCTV appeal at Rock Ferry Lloyds TSB
DETECTIVES are releasing CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted armed robbery at Lloyds TSB Bank, Old Chester Road, Rock Ferry, on Tuesday, August 12.
During the incident, a member of the public received a stab wound to the stomach and a security guard received a superficial wound to his hand. Both have been discharged from hospital.
Police were called to the bank at about 1.15pm after an emergency alarm was set off. A man, armed with a knife, had entered the bank as a security guard was making a cash delivery. He launched himself at the guard, knocking him to the floor, and a customer, who tried to intervene, was attacked with the knife.
The attacker ran off along Kings Lane, through the car park of the Kings Arms, over a wall and on to a pathway into Galtress Park near to the Tesco Metro store.
He did not get any cash.
The man was wearing a light-coloured shirt, waterproof jacket – the top half was cream or white and the bottom half royal blue or navy blue – dark trousers, white trainers,
black beanie hat with a square logo on the front and back and large-framed dark glasses.
Police are anxious to trace the man shown in the CCTV images as he was in the area at the time of the incident and they are urging him to come forward.
The man, or anyone who thinks they may know who he is, is asked to call Wirral CID via 777 2265 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
