Bar-room Banter: the latest views from Wirral’s pubs and bars
THIS week’s Bar Room Banter comes from Mojo in West Kirby, where owner Julian Lea, 35, gives his views to Matt Hurst
Should dogs be banned from Wirral’s beaches?
All dogs should be banned from Wirral’s beaches, and from the parks. People should take more care of them. I’m sick of seeing lots of waste around West Kirby and lots of other areas from arrogant dog owners.
In Spain or France, the council cleans the beaches every day and clears up all that mess, so how about the council actually dealing with it on a daily basis.
What do you think of the government’s plan to offer free insulation, rather than handing out a £100 subsidy for fuel?
The £100 would be better. I don’t think the insulation will ever happen because it takes too long to do and people need help now.
Were you ever worried a black hole could be created by the Cern machine?
No, I do think it was a massive budget and done by some very clever guys - but what does it all mean?!
What did you make of La Machine and do you think it was worth £1.8m?
Yes, I think it was great publicity for Liverpool and for the Capital of Culture, we could do with a few more things like that.
I’m just worried about what’s going to happen after the year ends.
Is Britney Spears on the road to redemption following her MTV Music Awards appearance?
She looked fantastic but she still can’t sing, she never will be able to sing.
The world needs people like Britney Spears.
Would a new Aldi store benefit West Kirby?
I don’t think we really need a new supermarket - but if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. I’m just worried about the traffic congestion, but it’s always going to be done if the right department agrees.
And finally, what’s been the big topic in your bar this week?
The refurbishment. People love it and think it looks much bigger and brighter.
