Seacombe pensioner robbed

A 92-year-old woman was robbed after a trip to the post office.

The woman had been to the post office in St Paul’s Road, Seacombe, last Monday (August 18) when she was followed as she walked to an address in William Street, Wallasey.

As the woman entered the house she was asked the time at around 4.30pm.

She was then pushed into her house by an attacker who tried to grab her handbag and ran off with the bag after a struggle.

Detective Inspector Lee Turner said: “While our victim was unable to describe her attacker in much detail, we are confident that, due to the ruthlessness of this crime, the community of Seacombe will help us with vital information to identify the offender.

“We believe the woman was followed for some distance and we are sure many people could have seen them.”

The woman’s attacker was stocky and about 5ft 5, dressed in a black hooded jumper with the hood pulled up tight to their face.

Police have conducted house-to-house inquiries and the investigation is continuing.

Any witnesses to the attack can call 777 2465 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
