A RECORD number of visitors turned out for the third Wirral Food and Drink Festival at the weekend, with about 26,000 people enjoying the fun.
More than 100 producers set up stalls at the event, offering produce from chocolates and beer to vegetables and free-range meat.
Festival organiser Rachel Guratsky said: “It has been another fantastic two days with loads of sunshine and people enjoying the entertainment, food and drink.
“We were bowled over by the amount of people coming again this year.
“But the best thing is that it is not over yet. Thornton Hall Hotel is holding a special Dine and Demo evening on September 25 with masterchef Brian Mellor.”
A new second stage, Dig a Little Deeper, highlighted local producers and different cooking skills.
The festival is supported by Wirral Council, The Mersey Partnership, the M53 Ford company, Merseyrail, Wirral Lions and Wirral Farmers’ Market.
