THOUSANDS of children across Wirral should benefit from a grant of almost £1m from the Big Lottery Fund towards play areas and games in parks and open spaces.
It is estimated that nearly 15,000 children and young people aged five-16 years will benefit from the new play projects and facilities across the borough.
Wirral Council saus the money will fund seven play projecys across Wirral over the next three years.
The money will also help deliver Wirral’s Play Strategy and provide more and improved play opportunities across Wirral.
Councillor Chris Meaden, Wirral Council’s play champion, said: “This money means more young people will be able to access free play and socialise with friends on their doorstep.”
