Visitors to Hoylake and West Kirkby Lifeboats open day can see almost completed new station

HOYLAKE and West Kirby Lifeboats are holding their annual open day on August Bank Holiday Monday from 10am-6pm.

The event, on the promenade at Hoylake, looks set to attract big crowds again.

Star attraction is the world famous Red Arrows who will be unveiling their new display. They will roar into the sky at 2pm.

Following them at 3pm are the Yaks who plan to thrill visitors with their amazing stunts and aerobatic displays.

There will be charity stalls, fun fairs and lifeboat souvenirs on sale. The lifeboat will also be open to the public, and the inshore rescue boat from West Kirby and hovercraft from New Brighton station will be there for the day.

Organiser Carole Jackson said: “We are hoping for a bumper day. It will be our last open day operating out of the current boathouse, and visitors will be able to see the now almost completed new lifeboat station nearby.

Admission is free but visitors must arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Carole added: “I would urge people to use public transport or park at Hoylake station and walk the few hundred yards to the event. If you are unable to use public transport, please arrive early and park carefully to avoid disruption and parking tickets.”
