Birkenhead Central Library closes for restoration work

BIRKENHEAD Central Library is to temporarily close completely from 5pm on Saturday so that restoration work there can be finished.

Its planned opening date is September 15.

The closure is so that contractors can fit 14 skylights safely and give library staff time to rearrange and re-stock shelves back to full capacity and carry out a complete deep clean of the whole building.

Cllr Bob Moon, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: “I’m delighted that the finishing line is now in sight and there is a date for the full reopening.”

To celebrate the completion of the work, there will be refreshments and entertainment at the re-opening.
