THE search is on for the stars of Wirral’s hospitals.
Individuals and teams who have made an outstanding contribution to the work of the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the past 12 months are in line for a 2008 Foundation Award.
Judging is currently taking place for the awards initiative which will showcase healthcare to patients.
Categories are:
l Divisional awards for innovation and service improvement; there are five awards, one for each of the four clinical divisions - medicine, surgery, women and
children, and diagnostics - and one for the corporate services division.
l Trust-wide awards for outstanding individual contribution; there are three awards to honour individuals in the categories of employee (including flexi-bank member), volunteer and contribution to teaching.
There are awards of funds towards service development plus individual and team prizes, engraved plaques and certificates.
The judging panel is trust chairman Eryl Hoskins; John Foster, director of facilities; Brian Cummings, public governor; Marie Armitage, director of public health, Wirral PCT and stakeholder governor; Ronnie Devlin, staff governor, and Sue McCann, editor of Wirral News.
Eryl Hoskins said: “The Foundation Awards 2008 present an opportunity to showcase the exceptional work that our staff do every day, and give us a chance to celebrate this.
“We want to recognise their achievements and show how services have improved over the past year. We want to show excellence in healthcare to our patients.
“We are particularly delighted that the Wirral News is supporting the awards by helping us show the local population - who might not use our services frequently - the good work of our staff and volunteers.”
The winners will be announced at a special evening reception to be held on Thursday, September 18 at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight.
