A GROUP of walkers celebrated Wirral’s Viking heritage on Saturday by walking between two churches.
The Olsok Walk also marked St Olave’s Day - St Olave is the patron saint of Norway.
The Norwegian walk is hundreds of miles. Wirral’s version was a modest 13 miles from St Mary and St Helen’s Church in Neston - which has strong Viking connections with some fantastic examples of Viking age stonework - to St Olave’s Church in Chester.
Organisers Steve Harding and Dan Robinson said: “Wirral Vikings first tried to take Chester by force 1100 years ago. This time our intentions were entirely peaceful and the Chester folks were very welcoming - we’ll be back again next year.”
