A TEAM of students from Upton Hall School have jetted out to China to represent Britain at a prestigious science exhibition.
Twenty-seven pupils left for Shanghai last week to exhibit design ideas alongside other students from around the world - including the USA, Canada, Germany and France.
The team from Upton is one of two UK school teams selected to showcase the best of British eco-friendly innovative design ideas at the Chinese government-sponsored event.
All the Upton girls flying to China have studied Mandarin and will be able to converse with their hosts in Chinese.
They will be accompanied on the 10-day trip by their headteacher Patricia Young, their Chinese teacher and head of design Technology, Peter Vaughan.
Patricia Young said: “We are all very proud that our school has been chosen to represent Britain. We do believe we have some of the best, most hard-working teachers and pupils on Britain as our good results show. But it is thrilling that our design technology and our modern foreign language departments have been recognised both locally, nationally and internationally in this way and we are delighted at the opportunity learning Chinese and studying design technology is affording the girls.”
