Bromborough golfer Paul Waring tipped as future star by world number two

GOLFING great Phil Mickelson has tipped Bromborough boy Paul Waring as a star of tomorrow.

The world number two was so impressed by his Royal Birkdale partner on the final day of the Open that he spoke up.

Mickelson praised the Wirral 23-year-old’s ability to cope on Southport’s windy course.

He said: “He played a lot of solid shots throughout the round in difficult conditions and I was very impressed with the way he was two under par at the turn.”

“Paul can become a force in European golf and I expect him to have a good finish to this season.”

For the young golfer it couldn’t have been a better pairing.

Paul said: “Phil is very approachable and very talkative. He’s a genuinely nice man and I learned a lot from watching his game. It’s been a wonderful day.”
