WIRRAL PCT is offering free postal testing kits for chlamydia after shocking figures showed one in eight residents under the age of 24 have the sexually transmitted infection.
Director of the Wirral programme, Dr Jenny Hopwood said: “Chlamydia can have such a bad effect on somebody’s future and yet can be so easily overlooked.
“It really is worth having a quick and easy test.”
In response, the PCT has launched a new website - www.eazeescreen.co.uk - where anyone aged under 24 and living in Wirral can apply to have a test kit sent out to them.
Results can even be texted through mobile phones.
Campaign co-ordinator for Wirral PCT, Judy Fairburn said: “Our campaign and the website are designed to try and encourage young men and women to take responsibility for their sexual health and wellbeing, with the help and support of our professional team.”
