Morris Minor tribute for Greasby’s Burt Taberner

Morris Minor convoy is fitting tribute to Greasby’s Burt Taberner

GREASBY’S Burt Taberner was given a fitting send-off last Tuesday, as a Morris Minor convoy led by his much-loved 1955 model made its way to Landican Cemetery.

The life president of the Merseyside Morris Minor Club died on June 24, at the age of 87.

To celebrate Burt’s life, and his devotion to the car design, a convoy was organised and more than 20 Morris Minors joined in the solemn journey from the Twelfth Man pub to his final resting place.

Leading the way was Burt’s Morris Minor, decorated with black ribbon and driven on this occasion by his nephew.

A touching non-Christian ceremony was held at the cemetery, with tributes from friends, family and club members.

Also in attendance were representatives from Chester Vintage Car Club and Wirral Classic Car Club, as well as guests from as far afield as Norfolk and Anglesey.

A packed reception was held at The Manor in Greasby, where all those who knew Burt raised a glass to his life.
