Superlambananas! Festival crosses the Mersey to Wirral

WIRRAL is taking part in a massive Merseyside cultural event - with it’s very own Superlambananas.

This summer the region will be transformed by more than100 individually designed versions of the iconic sculpture for the Go Superlambananas! festival; five of them will be based in Wirral.

The festival, which aims to showcase the region’s heritage, architecture, regeneration, runs until August 25.

Tthere will be Superlambananas in Birkenhead Park, Pyramids shopping centre, Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight Museum and Ness Gardens.

Cllr Bob Moon, Wirral Council’s cabinet member for culture, said: “Wirral is delighted to be taking part in the festival - hopefully, it will attract even more visitors to Birkenhead Park and Wirral’s other attractions throughout the summer.”

The Birkenhead Park Flora Lambana is decorated with swirling patterns of flowers and is based in the garden adjacent to the pavilion in the lower park.

The design is by artist Rosalind Hargreaves.
