Birkenhead MP Frank Field is made lay canon of Chester Cathedral

BIRKENHEAD MP Frank Field has been appointed a lay canon of Chester Cathedral by the Bishop of Chester.

He will be installed during the service of choral evensong at 5.30pm on Friday, June 20.

The appointment is in recognition of Mr Field’s long service both to the constituency of Birkenhead as well as the diocese of Chester.

He has chaired the Church Conservation Trust since 2001 and from 2005 he has also been chairman of the Cathedral Fabrics Commission, the planning authority for English cathedrals.

This year, Mr Field also became a patron of the Leveson Centre for the Study of Ageing, Spirituality and Social Policy.
