Anti-drink and drug campaign

THE latest phase of a campaign to deter youngsters from drinking was launched at the Wirral Show over the weekend.

Wirral DAAT's (Drug and Alcohol Action Team) Don't Bottle It campaign, supported by Merseyside Police and Wirral Council, suggests alternatives to drinking.

Members of Wirral DAAT staffed an information and guidance stand at the New Brighton showground.

Terry White, young persons' programme manager, said: "Don't Bottle It has been extremely successful since its launch last summer.

"Educating young people about the risks associated with drug and alcohol misuse is essential and can help reduce harm they can cause."

Wirral DAAT will soon be working with voluntary groups to host information stands about the campaign in supermarkets.

Wirral Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Colin Matthews said: "We also want to protect young people and make them and their parents aware of the consequences of drinking under age."
