OVER the Christmas period and the first few weeks of January, I have been reading through the thousands of survey returns people have been sending me from across the constituency.
People might not think MPs read all their surveys personally, but I do.
One of the comments raised was the timetable in Wirral for the completion of the roll-out of the UK's super fast broadband. So, last Friday, I brought together representatives from BT and Merseyside Connected to discuss the situation and provide a timetable which will be confirmed to me shortly.
When this government came to office in 2010, the UK was one of the slowest countries in the developed world for broadband.
So much so, that we pledged to rectify this situation by 2017, so that we will be one of the most connected countries in the world. This will benefit individuals, communities and businesses.
Wirral West is made up of many small businesses – in fact, 99% of all private sector business in the country is small businesses, so it really is vital we develop this infrastructure.
I've also been helping Dave Taylor, Development Manager of West Kirby Wasps football team, particularly with regard to funding.
I was delighted to receive an update from him telling me that following discussions with FA representatives they are considering becoming a Community Chartered Standard football club, which I understand is the highest level within grassroots football. Well done, Dave.
And, finally, many people may know about the Love Wirral grants. These are small grants for community projects across Wirral and the funding allocations are decided by a public vote.
If you want to vote for a favourite scheme, go to www.surveymonkey.com/ s/RSGY3VH but be quick, voting closes this Friday, January 24.
