PEOPLE in Wirral are financially worse off today than they were before the Tory-led government came to power in 2010.
Official figures show that since David Cameron has been in Downing Street, we have never seen such a fall in real wages.
Prices have risen faster than wages in all but one month of David Cameron’s premiership – and that was in April this year when he cut taxes for millionaires and bank bonuses soared.
No other Prime Minister since records began comes close to the disaster for family living standards David Cameron has overseen.
People tell me every day that they are struggling to get by and this is backed up by figures which show that working people are an average of £1350 worse off a year in real terms since the Tories entered Downing Street.
And even more worryingly, forecasts show this is set to be worse after five years of this government.
Analysis by the Office for Budget Responsibility forecasts by the House of Commons further shows that wages are falling and that working people will, on average, have lost a total of £6,600 while Cameron has been in Number 10.
This is an appalling record and shows that Tory economic policies are failing and that hard working people are massively out of pocket.
Labour would help middle and low income families, including a lower 10p starting rate of tax. We’d also take action to tackle soaring energy bills and protect tax credit for working families by reversing the tax cut for millionaires.
The Tories have demonstrated how out of touch they are with people and families on Wirral. Labour is working hard to prove that we’re on your side.
