Congratulations to Geoff Gubb who has been selected as the Conservative candidate for the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner election, a new post that will come into effect this November and will set priorities for the Merseyside police force, overseeing budgets and with the power to hire and fire chief constable.
Geoff who lives in Wirral and whose father was a policeman initially studied law before becoming a multi-national trader in processed fruit and vegetables. Firstly with a company (then) based in Heswall, then with Union International (part of the Vesty Group) at their HQ in London and then in the Chinese office which he established that still operates today.
More recently he has specialised in emergency planning and crisis management operating at national and local government level addressing the INTERPOL Disaster Victim & Identification committee conference at INTERPOL HQ. Geoff has for the last ten years been a Governor of a local secondary special educational needs school, and for the last six years he has been Chair of Governors.
If elected he will work with local communities to tackle issues of crime and antisocial behaviour focussing less on the rights of criminals and more on justice for the victims and engage with the local community to strengthen ties with the local police force. He wants to ensure crime continues to fall and that confidence in the local police continues to climb ensuring greater accountability, transparency and affordability.
Elections for this position will be held on November 15th this year; it’s about each and every one of us having a greater say and engagement with our local police force.
