ON THURSDAY February 16, 6.30-9pm at Melrose Hall, Melrose Avenue, Hoylake I will be holding a public debate on the future of jobs for Wirral. All are welcome and the event is free.
As Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chris Grayling MP, I believe we need to focus on employment opportunities in Wirral and of course the wider Merseyside are and I would like to start this process off by hosting a public debate on the future of jobs and apprenticeships for Wirral.
There are many apprenticeship schemes available in the UK, however, we need to ensure those schemes are turned into a reality here in order to provide the thousands of apprenticeships and jobs in our area.
The Government is keen to support opportunities through the Regional Growth Fund and the granting of Enterprise Zone status and generous financial incentives are in place to entice a wide range of inward investments into the borough.
Coupled with this is the opportunity for developing new markets such as those being opened up by the low carbon economy.
We need to start examining job creation now so that we are ready to provide the skilled workforce that will be needed to meet these exciting challenges as they arise.
On the night we will have key employers from the area, Wirral, Apprentices, representatives from the Work Programme and business mentors. I really do hope as many people will turn up to take advantage of the night and offer their ideas.
