Wirral Letters: Shortpoints Sept 21

“Edmundo” (Your Views September 7) has a very strange vision for his ideal New Brighton .... a Monte Carlo on the Mersey.

The Neptune project was the only one on offer and it will fit in well with the existing, in his opinion, “cheap, down-market” businesses that have survived during a grim period of neglect of the resort.

Incoming business will bring jobs and jobs bring money and the community should prosper.

The Neptune Company may have other projects they will want to commission in the resort but even if not, “Emundo” will have to accept that the development is built and in my opinion is a great improvement on past decades and one that I welcome.

THE Boundary Commission’s thoughts on Bidston and St James ward being relocated to the Wallasey constituency shows them to be people with a very bright red pen but a very dim understanding of the geography of the area.

The ward boundary stretches past Birkenhead Park and along to Watson Street, which is in the heartlands of Birkenhead (indeed just a couple of hundred yards away from the town’s main shopping centre).

Surely they would do better to put down their pen and visit the area, perhaps then they may reconsider?

THE charity bags which Roger Hack complains about (Letters, September 14) make good refuse bags so let’s have more through the letter box not less!

ON Saturday, September 3, a street licence was obtained for the Birkenhead area for the Multiple Sclerosis Society Wirral.

A collection was made at the Pyramids, ably assisted by the 99th Imperial Garrison (Star Wars).

I would like to thank all the people who gave so generously on that day; the grand total of £583.92 was raised.
