I’M FASCINATED to see the effect of the Canadian visitor’s letter recently (Wirral News, June 22: Station clean-up).
All of a sudden the people responsible for the station have leapt into action to rectify long overdue repairs. Well done but is this a coincidence?
Perhaps Wirral Council can take the hint. Instead of ultimatums about “doing nothing is not an option” they might care to consider improving the existing facilities such as the Concourse before foisting unwanted improvements on the voters and ratepayers.
The record of the council in developing the facilities of West Kirby or enforcing planning policies concerning development is hardly encouraging.

THIS must not happen.
Under no circumstances should the Clatterbridge oncology unit be moved, as suggested, to the Royal site in Liverpool, which is already congested.
The Clatterbridge unit, whose reputation easily matches that of the Christie in Manchester, must not be tampered with.
It is superbly equipped and staffed and attracts patients from a hinterland which includes North Wales.
How are people to reach Liverpool, compared to Clatterbridge, involving a more difficult journey, more costly for visitors?
The only possible motive for such a move can be envy. It must be opposed at all costs.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone associated with Hoylake's Festival of Firsts.
The whole fortnight seemed to go extremely well and it offered a magnificent showcase to local artists, especially those displaying their work on the promenade on the middle Sunday.
I'm sure more frequent events of this type would go down well - roll on next year!
