I WOULD like to pass on my huge congratulations to all those businesses who were nominated for awards at the recent Wirral Investment Network Business Awards Ceremony.
Events like this showcase the very best of Wirral’s very vibrant and diverse business talent, and while not all could take the ultimate award, in my eyes all those who were nominated for in the many different categories are winners
Over the years despite some difficulties, Wirral has become a major force in business, from SMEs to some of the biggest companies in the UK and I believe it really has become the place to live, work and visit. I sincerely hope that companies in Wirral can build on the successes they have already achieved bringing further investment and employment into the Wirral economy.
Once again well done to all on their success and good luck for the future.
Esther McVey,
Member of Parliament for Wirral West and President Wirral Investment Network
JUST recently a pizza place has opened up near my home and the litter outside has been pretty bad.
Also, the noise from their extractor fan is like living near the Queen Mary and the disruption to the local area with skips and mess while it was getting done up was most inconsiderate.
I also recently visited the local park with my son and the dogs and there was so much litter there too, particularly cans and broken bottles.
My son takes three carrier bags a day and fills them all. There are bins around but people need to learn to use them.

RE: the piece on returning soldiers given a heroes welcome at Birkenhead Town Hall (Wirral News, July 13) I am very disappointed that not one picture or even mention was made of the cadets who turned out and supported the troops.
They are our future Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Please show some pride in them too.
