LAST week I noticed a link on the Love British Food Website that asked people to vote for their Favourite Food Spot in Britain.
There is no mention of Wirral, Liverpool or Merseyside on the page or in the voting list.
This surprised me a little given the success of local businesses, the Wirral Farmers Market, the Wirral Food and Drink Festival and the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.
We are all obviously missing a trick if we are not even being listed on the page.
I have commented on this on Facebook and Twitter and have now had a response from the organisers regarding featuring us on their website.
I think it would be great if we all showed a united front and championed the fabulous food offering we have and ensure that we actually win this vote.
If anyone would like to get involved in this please let me know. Contact me on 0151 709 5197.

THE journey to New Brighton to sail a model boat on the new lake is a nightmare. When you arrive, there is nowhere to park to carry a model boat across the busy road because the car park is full or there’s so many badly-parked up cars.
The pleasure has gone and try explaining this to young children who have been dreaming all week of sailing a boat.
The children think that it is just hard luck, but also think that “grown ups” are selfish. I would like to hear from those responsible for allowing this to happen.

ON PAGE 7 of Wirral News (June 15) it is reported that internationally acclaimed Dr Jane Davis has received the MBE for founding the Reader Organisation charity. It’s inspirational outreach schedule has over 100 Get into Reading groups on this peninsula alone.
On the cover, plus Page 2, we get the dismaying news that Wirral’s libraries are yet again under threat.
Small wonder that I for one feel like Alice in Wonderland.
