OVER the past 10 months I have been an inpatient at Arrowe Park Hospital on five occasions, four of them as emergency admissions.
I have been in ICU on three occasions, ward 14 twice, ward 18 twice, isolation once.
I cannot speak too highly of the treatment in all areas from the consultants, doctors, especially all the nursing staff, cleaners and pharmacy staff.
To make changes which will affect any, or all, of the present way of working, can only be to the detriment of the patients, i.e. having to wait longer for admittance to enter hospital, or for bedside attention.
Changes in nursing numbers by closing beds will not be in patients’ interests.
The management side takes no part in ward work and is of no use in patients’ treatment. Instead of creating more “suit” jobs, keep the nursing side as it is, and their grade level up, not down. Saving money on the administration side would better serve the patient.

MY WIFE and I are keen followers of yesteryear vehicle rallies and travelled to an event in Cheshire. We found three classic Birkenhead Corporation buses and a bus advertising the Floral Pavilion with Ken Dodd’s picture to the front and rear.
In the arena a man highlighted Birkenhead’s place as the first in Europe for street tram cars.ŠHe said a small band of volunteers worked all year to keep the vehicles in perfect condition.
This is the first time we have witnessed our home town being highlighted in this way. May we offer the group known as the One Borough Group our congratulations for a job well done. Wirral should be proud of you!

NOW that Labour are back in control of Wirral Council can we expect to see frequent advertisements for council coordinators, facilitators and outreach workers, which have been mercifully absent for the past 12 months?

I would like to thank the kind lady and gentleman who stopped their car in Highfield Drive in Greasby to help me when I tripped over the uneven pavement on Greasby Road last Saturday morning. I don’t know who you are but your kindness was very much appreciated.
