A betrayal of electorate
I FIND it despicable that councillor Steve Niblock, or indeed any councillor, can change sides mid-office.
I feel that it is a kick in the teeth for all of us who voted for this person.
When I vote it is for the party, not the person and I expect that respect should be shown for my decision, certainly until the next election.
He was put on the council to represent those who voted for him, not for his personal feelings.
He has deceived his voters and a new election should be called. I hope he is not voted in at the next election.

Niblock must go
RE: the article (Wirral News, May 18) regarding the defection of Steve Niblock to the Labour Party – surely there is something wrong here.
Obviously this is a personal choice and as an individual he has the right to make that decision,Šbut he was elected to the council to represent his constituents as a LiberalŠcouncillor, not a Labour one.
I wouldn’t mind betting that some of them are unhappy with his decision. Surely he no longer represents the wishes of those who voted for him and under such circumstances should stand down.
In order to stand as a Labour councillor heŠmustŠbe elected to that position, it cannot be assumed.Š

Doggy dangers
AS A dog owner and dog lover, I wish dog owners could be more responsible.
I have to take mine out at very anti-social hours, just to enjoy a decent walk.
Sadly, so many owners think their dogs harassing other pets and owners is fine, which can include pinning my dogs to the ground, biting them, jumping all over me, and generally causing my dogs a lot of upset and behavioural problems through fear, that I then have to pay for.
If you don’t know someone, do not allow your dog to race up to them and their pets.
On a regular basis, the anti-dog brigade give abuse to dog owners who are doing nothing wrong. If people were just more considerate, these problems wouldn’t exist.

Have your say
THE board of directors of Wirral University Hospital Trust want us to have our say about proposals and changes to Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge.
They have several proposals on the table. All of them will have consequences for the dermatology department.
I would urge anybody who is concerned about these proposals to write in or e-mail before June 13.
The dermatology department at Clatterbridge is an excellent service.
Please write in and let them know how important and fantastic this very busy department is.
I have been an in-patient on the dermatology ward and I would not like to spend weeks and weeks as an in-patient at Arrowe Park.

Harsh regime
SHOPPERS beware!
My daughter recently received an £80 parking ticket at the Cherry Tree car park in Liscard.
The warden gave her the penalty for being inconsiderately parked, having one tyre on the white line.
Although she was parked in the centre of the available space, between a normal car and a 7-seater people carrier.
After appealing against this fine, the penalty was upheld.
We were dismayed to find that the Cherry Tree car park is now being administered by a private company who as far as I am concerned are running a very harsh regime, which I’m sure will be detrimental to the future success of the Liscard shopping area.

Sponge solution
ONE OF the biggest nuisances in this area, especially during the school holidays, are kids repeatedly kicking a ball against houses, walls, fences and cars.
The noise your normal football makes when it hits any solid object results in severe damage to the nervous system. One tip I have received from our neighbourhood watch policeman is that the council used to supply football-sized sponge balls to problem areas to replace the harder conventional footballs for kids playing in the street.
Less noise, less damage, less injurious.
I would suggest Wiral Council revisit this idea
Let’s have a nice quiet peaceful summer.
