Wirral Letters: Shortpoints March 30

WE ARE German Shepherd Rescue, and we need help all over the UK but particularly in the Wirral area. We need people who may have a bit of time to do home checks, people who have a place in their home and hearts to foster a German Shpherd until they can be found a forever home.

And then there’s the wonderful people who donate or fundraise.

All of these will help a wonderful, loving and loyal dog who has to be rehomed through no fault of their own.

Please contact us if you can help.

ASIDE from the fact that it turned out to be a forgery, can anybody explain how a coin minted in 941 found anywhere could ever possibly “reinforce already strong evidence” for the location of an event that took place in 937? (Wirral News March 2).

A further mystery: How has “Brunanburh'” now become a “Viking battle with the English”? Whatever can have happened to the major players in the coalition; the “Auld Enemy”; The Scots and The Men of Strathclyde under their respective kings? Maybe they found marching to Bromborough a bit too far?

WHILE the partial re-opening of Ss Peter and Paul,New Brighton is to be welcomed what is REALLY needed is weekly Sunday Mass even if it is at 5pm or 6pm. Parishioners are expected to attend Holy Apostles and Martyrs in Wallasey Village which is too far for elderly, sick and frail people to travel especially in bad weather. Not everyone has a car or can get a lift!

I WOULD like to express my thanks to the gentlemen in the white van who came to my help after a fall on a raised paving stone in Fairview Road near to Saint Joseph’s school on March 22 when I was taking my dogs to the vets in Birch Road.

He helped me up, kept hold of the dogs and made sure that I had no head injury and that I could stand up and carry on to the vets.

My grateful thanks to ‘white van man’, whoever you are.
