Wirral Letters: Shortpoints February 23

THE Dee Estuary is one of the chief marine bird reserves in Britain, a site of special scientific interest (S.S.S.I.), this is why the proposed electricity cable cannot be buried there.

Also, the soft marshland would not be suitable for technical reasons, according to the proposers.

This could be an opportunity to remove the existing unsightly power lines in Wirral and bury them alongside the new cable.

OUR greatest-ever institution, the National Health Service, needs the support of Wallasonians against the greatest attack on it since the 1980s.

Please get involved on the Defend the NHS Facebook page where many health service workers and a famous film director (you’ll have to join to see who) have offered their support.

It’s our national health service and its our responsibility to save it!

I'M concerned about the loss of our park ranger at Wallasey Central Park.

The park has thriving activities during the week and at weekends.

How many of you have been to tea in the walled garden on a Sunday afternoon?

The ambience of the people getting together enjoying a cup of tea and amazing cakes, listening to music and feeling secure in doing so, is quite an eye opener for those who go for the first time.

This is our oasis; if we don't have a ranger, will the garden be closed to the residents of Wallasey at weekends? Wallasey has always been the poor relation when it comes to services – how many rangers are there in Birkenhead Park?

Can’t we borrow one when necessary?

I WOULD like to thank the four people who went to my elderly mother’s assistance when she fell on Woodchurch Road by Sainsbury’s supermarket this week during the bad weather. Special thanks to the taxi driver who took mum home.

ARE we really all in it together?

Just an observation: Wirral Council cuts jobs and services ... Wirral Council advertises for chief executive at £130,000.
