Disability taunts “ignorant’’
I AM disgusted at what Helen has been put through (“Mum’s anguish over disability taunts”, Wirral News, July 1) and the people who have taunted her are ignorant.
The same thing happened to me at Asda in Bromborough when taking my disabled granddaughter shopping a few years ago. I know of mothers who do not use the disabled car parks because of the people who taunt them when they are out with their disabled children.
There are a lot of children, young people and older people who have hidden disabilities who are entitled to blue disabled parking badges.
It is such a pity that a lot of people do not understand this and behave in such a dreadful way to parents and carers of people with hidden disabilities.
Try not to let them upset you Helen, ignore then, and walk away. They are not worth getting upset for.

Sympathy
I TOO have a little boy called Liam who is 5 years old and suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – we have a blue badge for him and have encountered the same kind of hostility when parking in designated areas.
When I take my mum shopping with us no-one challenges us as my mum has a crutch from a hip replacement and I presume they think the badge is for her.
I have taught my son to respect other people and their property and he can be quite upset when this happens as he doesn't understand.
Our sons have enough to deal with without the comments and sly remarks from small-minded individuals.
Please pass on my best wishes to the family and let them know they are not alone – some people are just selfish and nasty.
