THIS letter is aimed at the parents of Ness Brownies and Guides, who use the hut by Little Neston Village Green.
Please can we request that you think about where you are parking your car?
Throughout the week it is a regular occurrence for parents collecting Brownies and Guides to park across the junction and actually on the green itself.
This makes it impossible to either cross the road or drive down the road safely.
Why not park safely and walk across to the hut before a serious accident happens and a child is hurt?

Cruel Vikings
SO Professor Harding wants Tranmere to adopt a Viking crest.
I wish he and others would pipe down about Wirral’s Viking heritage.
I’m of Norse descent myself, but I’m not proud of it.
The Vikings had no good reason to invade Britain.
They did it for gain and displayed a psychopathic bloodlust that was appalling even by the standards of the time.
Even modern Scandinavian historians agree that they treated the British with great cruelty.
So let’s forget about them and hope that when Tranmere lose a game the players don’t decide to “spread eagle” the referee!

Ticket to ride
IN reply to the letter “Arriva is unfair to elderly” (May 27) – I do not work for Arriva but felt I couldn’t help but respond.
Whatever reason Arriva have to “order” that holders of free travel passes now need a ticket (disabled pass holders are now also issued with a ticket, so the elderly are not being singled out), surely that is at their discretion and they are perfectly entitled to do so.
Passes are not the only proof of payment needed – they are in fact free to pensioners and they are supposed to queue like every other passenger getting on to the bus, regardless of whether they are paying or showing their pass.
The elderly are not being discriminated against but unfair comments like these do single some out as impatient and ungrateful people.
Maybe the shrieking bus driver in question had had a bad day and I am not condoning rudeness but bus drivers do not have an easy job nowadays.ŠŠ
I have every sympathy for them so is it really too much to ask just to allow them to do their job?Š
In the end, if you are still not satisfied then by all means do use your car.

Arriva right
THANK you Arriva.
Unlike “Name and Address Supplied” (Letters, May 27) I hope issuing tickets to pass holders like myself may lead to fewer service cuts, like Tranmere routes 41/42.
Issuing tickets will show the true number of passengers travelling after 6.30pm.

A wise move
I DON’T know what all the fuss is about regarding Councillor Denis Knowles.
He has only done what a lot of the electorate will be doing come the local elections and that is moving away from our spineless Labour councillors and looking elsewhere.
Good for you Denis, pity there are not more who would stand up and do what you have done.

Duplicitous
COUNCILLOR Knowles’ decision to cross the floor of the council chamber and join the Tories is a kick in the teeth for residents of Seacombe, who voted by a massive majority for a Labour councillor for their area.
He should show some principles and resign and fight a by-election; giving people a choice.
Regarding his decision, in an article in the Wallasey News in November, Cllr Knowles said regarding the SAR that “it would be for the greater good”.
Now he claims to feel shame for the same decision.
Last year a decision was taken to allocate Cllr Knowles as a representative on Merseytravel one year and Cllr Abbey the second year.
Cllr Knowles did not complain at the time, but he conveniently chooses to omit this from his letter to Seacombe residents.
If he feels ‘shame’, it should be for his duplicity.

Money woes
I HAVE read with outrage and disbelief of the unfolding scandal of MPs expenses.
I cannot believe that those exposed try to justify the spending of taxpayers money by saying it was “within the rules”.
Do some of them lose their moral standards when they become MPs?
I also read with interest your article about the £3,500 spent on our new Mayor’s civic reception.
How can the council justify spending that amount on entertainment when the council finances are in such dire straits that essential services are being axed?
We have learnt that we cannot trust our national government employees with our money – is it time to look more closely at our local council representatives?
