Former Wirral Mayor says Labour councillor’s decision to join Conservatives is “unbelievable”

CAN I submit an open letter to Councillor Denis Knowles.

I have known you for a long time and, as a former colleague on Wirral Council I have spent many hours in your company in meetings, at conferences and in the pub.

I find it unbelievable that you can cross the floor and join the Tories who used to laugh at you every time you spoke in the council chamber.

I could understand if you have left the group over the spending

review – if I was still a councillor I would have had problems with the whip about it.

But join the Tories? Never.
