POLISH side Slask Wroclaw are are ready to sign former Tranmere and Motherwell defender Tom Hateley following a successful trial.
The 24-year-old utility player has joined Slask on a training camp while the Polish league enjoys a winter break. He was released by Rovers this month at the end of a four-month contract.
Slask manager Stanislav Levy confirmed they were closing in on signing Hateley.
“We are discussing a contract with him and I believe the process will be finished in a few days,” he said.
“We want to have Tom with us for the next training camp.
“He is versatile and can play as full-back or defensive midfielder and it is critical we have someone to fill those positions,” added Levy.
