THE Tranmere Rovers Supporters Trust have called time on the fund raising phase of their bid to take the club into community ownership.
The Trust say they are counting the final donations made by supporters at home and abroad ahead of the New Year’s Day deadline.
It is expected the Trust will confirm they have fallen short of the £500,000 target set in the autumn, when current club owner Peter Johnson disclosed that takeover talks were under way with several interested parties.
None of the other bidders have yet to make public their identities or intentions, although Johnson, the Wirral multimillionaire businessman who has been the controlling shareholder at Prenton Park for almost 26 years, has regularly insisted he wants to find a buyer with the long-term interests of the club at heart.
