ADAM McGURK, the ex-Tranmere front man making a strong impression with Burton Albion in League Two this season, took a KO from his players’ Christmas party in Liverpool last weekend.
Top scorer McGurk was knocked unconscious during Burton’s 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup second round.
He was taken to hospital, where he was discharged before the final whistle blew at Highbury Stadium.
Burton boss Gary Rowett explained: “I spoke to Adam straight after the game and he was feeling better.
“The players went for their Christmas party in Liverpool after the game, and Adam was trying to get in on that, so he can’t have been too bad. But we made sure he didn’t go. His mum and dad drove him home.”
Born in Northern Ireland, McGurk, 24, played 89 games in three season for Rovers between 2010 and 2013. He was released at the end of last season.
