PORT VALE manager Micky Adams says frustration on the training ground led him to temporarily step down from his first-team duties to have a hip replacement operation.
Adams had surgery this week and is expected to miss Vale’s game at Tranmere today where first-team coach Rob Page will take charge.
The hip problem has stopped Adams from taking full part in coaching.
Adams said: “I don’t know when I will return to work. It all depends on my recovery and what I have to do. With that type of surgery, I think I would be stupid to turn up at Tranmere.
“I am disappointed I am having to get it done, but I was starting to get more frustrated. I think one of my strengths is on the training ground and when I am not doing that then it is a problem for me.”
