TRANMERE will be asked to concentrate on the basics of defending when they travel to bottom club Notts County this weekend.
Manager Ronnie Moore and his coaching staff have been working this week on addressing the defensive lapses that cost Rovers dear in the opening weeks of the League One campaign.
Hopes that a corner had been turned by successive clean sheet against Oldham Athletic and Stevenage were dashed by a 4-3 home defeat to Brentford last weekend. Tranmere have now conceded 17 goals in seven games so far.
Assistant manager, John McMahon, said: “It’s about getting the balance right. We need to get bodies behind the ball and to defend properly.
“When crosses are coming into our box too easily and defenders are not defending properly, you’re asking for trouble. We have to keep digging and working to turn it around.”
Notts County, trounced 5-1 at the home of leaders Leyton Orient in midweek, have just one point on the board after seven games, four fewer than Tranmere.
