LIAM PALMER has been identified by Sheffield Wednesday manager David Jones as an example of how Championship clubs can benefit from sending their young prospects out on loan to the lower divisions.
Palmer, who spent the 2012-13 campaign on loan to Tranmere, has started every Owls game this season, although not always in his specialist midfield position.
Jones said: "The prime example to us is Liam Palmer. He's come back (from a spell at Tranmere Rovers) with 40-odd games under his belt, a year older, a year more experienced, after a year of being bumped and bashed in professional football instead of playing just in his own age group at U21 level.”
