Preston Youth 3-0 Tranmere

Preston North End Youth 3 Tranmere Youth 0: NORTHWEST Conference leaders Preston North End halted Tranmere’s mini revival in the Football League Youth Alliance.

Rovers tasted defeat for the first time in four games.

Trailing to an early goal by Jack Sowerby, they conceded two more in the 80th and 81st minute to strikes by Brandon Zibaka and Sowerby.

Head of Youth Shaun Garnett was disappointed with Tranmere’s performance.

He said: “I don’t think we played as well as we had in the previous couple of games.

“Some of the cracks we thought we had covered, appeared again.

“We conceded three poor goals, two from set plays and one from a free shot from 20 yards.

“We had a good spell midway through the second half and needed to take one of three or four half chances at that time.

“Preston are top of the league and very consistent but we could have done better against them.”

Tranmere are back in action today (Saturday) when they play host to Carlisle United in an Alliance fixture at Raby Vale (kick-off is at 11am).
