Ben Gibson could be on his way back to Tranmere

TRANMERE hope Ben Gibson will return to Prenton Park next week to begin a second loan spell from Middlesbrough.

The centre-back, who celebrated his 20th birthday yesterday (Friday) had been due to head back to the Wirral last week after coming through a three-month lay-off for a groin injury.

But Gibson jarred his knee in training, causing Middlesbrough to abort his appearance in a come-back game for the under-21 side.

Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore said: "The shout is, the knee injury is not too bad and we are hopeful Ben will be back for our physio to have a look at him next week."
