MANAGER Ronnie Moore has priased his players for still being in the promotion mix depsite their recent downturn in form.
Tranmere, in sixth place, are two points behind leaders Swindon despite taking only three points from the last 18 at stake.
Rovers were booed by some supporters at the final whistle on Tuesday after losing a third home game in a row to Swindon.
“Our players are giving their all and that is all I can ask of them,” Moore said.
“We have to remember what we are playing against. I’d like to have a look at Swindon’s £5million budget for players. We’re on £1.5m and some people get carried away by what we have done.
“I’m not making excuses. Swindon have quality players. That’s why they are top of the league. We have workhorses who will have a real go.
“When we have our best XI available we are a match anyone but at the moment we don’t have that. Okay, we’ve lost five out of six but we are still in the hunt – but we need to turn it around.”
