SWINDON TOWN, who were due at Prenton Park today, were among several League One clubs who recruited the help of supporters in beating the freeze to get their games on last weekend.
Manager Paulo DiCanio made his own thank-you gesture to fans who cleared snow off the County Ground so the 2-0 win over Shrewsbury could go ahead, buying them them all pizza
Around 200 people, including Di Canio and his staff, worked to remove the snow. “It wasn’t easy to handle the situation – it was an emergency,” Di Canio said.
“It was an emotional moment. You could see kids with their dads and they came with curiosity, but also with an intention to work hard. When we decided to order the pizza there were about 60 people but then it became over 200.
“It wasn’t enough because in one minute they had finished the pizza!”
