Rover Flow: Former Tranmere defender David Raven enjoying the highland life

DAVID RAVEN says making the move from Tranmere to Scottish Premier League club Inverness Caledonian Thistle has given his career a new dimension he could not have experienced in the lower divisions of the English game.

The Wirral-born centre-back has played at Celtic Park and figured in a Scottish League Cup win over Rangers at Ibrox since he made the move north of the border in the summer.

“The standard I was playing down south you would never get to go to places like Parkhead and Ibrox,” said Raven. “It was a huge factor in coming up here and you just have to look at what Celtic are doing in Europe this season to see how big a club they are. “It is something to tell the kids about going to stadiums like Ibrox and Parkhead.”

The 27-year-old came through the ranks at Liverpool and made a handful of appearances under Rafa Benitez – but all away from home. He then moved on to spells with Carlisle United, Shrewsbury Town and Tranmere, where he played 31 games last season.
