Sheffield United are committed to a passing game, says manager Danny Wilson

BOTH Sheffield United and Tranmere are building their success this season around attractive passing football and Blades manager Danny Wilson has little time for the argument that a more direct style is required for teams to prosper in the combative environment of League One.

Wilson said: “I hear that argument crop up all the time and I’ve never been able to understand it. You have got to be able to be good at lots of different facets of the game and passing is one of them.

“We are committed to doing what suits us best.

“We caused Carlisle a lot of problems with our passing and momentum in the first half of Saturday. It was good to see.”

Midfielder Kevin McDonald sustained a potentially serious ankle injury at Carlisle last weekend but United breathed a sigh of relief when Nick Blackman and Harry Maguire escaped the yellow cards which would have ruled them out of the meeting with Rovers.
