Tranmere Rovers FC skipper James Wallace set to be out for six weeks with medial ligament damage

SKIPPER James Wallace will miss the next six weeks of Tranmere’s promotion challenge, including the busy Christmas and New Year schedule.

Rovers confirmed that the 20-year-old midfielder damaged medial ligaments when stretching into a challenge 10 minutes into last Saturday’s FA Cup win over Chesterfield at Prenton Park.

The loss of Wallace, a driving force in the midfield, is a serious blow, although manager Ronnie Moore had been fearful Wallace would be sidelined for even longer.

He joins striker Jean Louis Akpa Akpro and winger Abdulai Bell-Baggie on the long-term casualty list

Wallace will now spend the next month and a half with physio Gregg Blundell under treatment.
